Abstract: Glutathione is a tripeptide detoxifying a variety of exogenous and endogenous free radicals and carcinogens, and a deficiency of glutathione is associated with an increased host susceptibility to oxidative stress, a pathological condition implicated in the development and progression of cancer. The catalytic subunit of glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCLC) is an enzyme responsible for the initial and rate-limiting step of glutathione biosynthesis
