Abstract: Developing the competences needed for life in contemporary civilization raised the question of the position of students and the role of teachers in the educational process. One of the tasks of the educational process is to help acquire and develop student competences as the basis for further improvement of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. In this process, the teacher is the key factor whose professional competences influence in which direction and how intensively students will progress and develop. In the professional literature we come across a large number of competencies lists that indicate the characteristics and abilities that teachers make qualified to do their job
