Abstract: The possibilities of structural engineering of vacuum-arc coatings based on the high entropy alloy AlCrTiZrNbY have been studied by means of electron microscopy with energy dispersion element analysis, X-ray diffractometry and microidentation methods. The observed structure changes are explained by the formation of defects of packaging in crystal lattice at low nitrogen content
