Abstract: α-amylase inhibitors are an important class of second-line antihyperglycemic drugs. They slow down the breakdown and absorption of carbohydrates, reducing peak glucose concentration with meals. Recent reports have also shown other beneficial effects of α-amylase inhibitors on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM)
